The Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo is Almost Here!

Grab your boots and your lasso! The Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo is almost here. The event exemplifies community spirit and tradition, its origins tracing back to World War II when Camp Swift brought a surge of activity to the area. To revitalize Bastrop’s economy post-war and reunite the community, the first Homecoming Jubilee was established. Over the decades, this celebration has blossomed into a cherished annual tradition, showcasing Bastrop’s rich culture and history.

77th Annual Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo

This year, from July 30 to August 3, 2024, the 77th Annual Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo will occur at Mayfest Hill Park in Bastrop, TX. Organized by the non-profit Bastrop Homecoming, Inc., the event aims to support local education by awarding scholarships to students from Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School.

TUESDAY, July 30: Team Roping – Open to Bastrop & surrounding counties.

WEDNESDAY, July 31: 4D Jackpot Barrel Racing.

THURSDAY, August 1: Rodeo Slack at 7:30 pm.

Rodeo contestants must register at CPRA Rodeo.

Mutton Bustin’

FRIDAY, August 2: Rodeo at 7:30 pm / Mutton Bustin’ – $30 first come basis.

SATURDAY, August 3: Rodeo at 7:30 pm / Mutton Bustin’  – $30 first come basis. 

You can check out the rules for Mutton Bustin’ here and sign up at the Diamond Cross Rodeo merchandise booth inside the arena near the concession. It will be an unforgettable memory for you kids!

Weekend Pass and Admission

Attendees have several admission options during the 77th Annual Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo. A Weekend Pass is available for $25, and presale tickets can be purchased at Bastrop Beer Co. located at 1008 Main Street. Admission is FREE Tuesday through Thursday!

On Friday and Saturday, admission includes access to the rodeo and live music for $15 per person, with children aged ten and under admitted free of charge.

Parade

The grand parade will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, showcasing the community spirit of Bastrop. Registration begins at 7:30 am at the corner of Hill and Cedar Streets and ends at 9 am. Judging will occur from 8:30 to 9:30 am, and the parade starts at 10 am. 

This year, the parade route has changed; it follows Cedar Street to Main Street, Spring Street, and Hill Street to avoid the ongoing parade. 

For safety, the Bastrop Police Department will direct the route with security officers and barricades. Here’s a link for parade rules and more information.

Vendor Information

Vendors interested in participating can apply to sell food and merchandise during the event. The new parade route will offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festivities and celebrate with the community.
