Busy in Bastrop
November 3, 2023 4:06 pmOur master-planned community sits in Bastrop, a bustling city near the heart of Texas — and the town is gearing up for a spectacular lineup of local events that will have you marking your calendars and counting down the days. From festivals celebrating extraordinary artistic minds to honoring our veterans and shopping locally, you won’t want to miss upcoming events in our city.
Art Fest
Art Fest at the Lost Pines Art Center in Downtown Bastrop is a family-friendly event that drew nearly 1,000 people last year! It’s a free, all-day affair, so plan for the whole day on Saturday, November 11th, because you don’t want to miss anything. Plan to arrive by 11 AM, and you’ll have six hours of art, food, and fun. And—bonus—all proceeds from the arts and crafts sales go into the center’s annual budget!
There will be so much to do and see. Browse the big tent for arts and crafts by area artisans, stop to watch artist demonstrations and participate in interactive art, and, of course, have lunch from one of the local vendors. Follow the festival on Facebook to get the latest news.
Veterans Day Car Show and Ceremony
Rev up your engine and head to the 17th Annual Heroes & Hot Rods Veterans Weekend Cruise In, Tribute Ceremony, & Car Show on November 10th and 11th on Historic Main Street Downtown to honor our veterans and check out the cool cars. If you arrive by 5 PM on Friday, you can see 400+ vehicles cruise into town! Come back Saturday to see all the cars up close and take photos of your favorites. Is your car your favorite? Then register to be in the show, and let the judges decide if yours gets an award. Did we mention The Colony is actually one of the sponsors of this amazing event?!
Be there to honor our veterans on Saturday, November 11th, at 10:30 AM for the tribute march. All veterans are invited to join the march, so let your family and friends know to be there. After the march, attend the ceremony at the Bastrop County Courthouse Gazebo. Then, grab lunch and check out the World War II and Camp Swift exhibits. All proceeds benefit charities supported by the Bastrop Area Cruisers, the group that hosts this event.
Wassail Fest and Small Business Saturday
In the mood for homemade cider? Well, there’ll be plenty at the 6th Annual Lost Pines Wassail Fest & Small Business Saturday on November 25th in downtown Bastrop. Come out to enjoy hot mulled cider while you do your holiday shopping at local businesses. Be sure to sample all the ciders so you can vote for your favorite recipe in the People’s Choice Awards! Then get some snacks and enjoy polka music in front of the Museum. RSVP to the Facebook event to get all the updates.
Festive in The Colony
